QGR/QR
In early 2006 Queensland Rail National operates in at least two states, either as rail operator or construction contractor, and Pacific National Queensland operates trains on QR's main north-south lines within Queensland.
On the heritage scene, QGR steam locomotives continue to operate at several locations within Queensland and are on static display in many more. Transition era diesel locomotives have likewise been preserved, usually with QR livery, although many more continue to operate on other 3' 6" lines around the region/world and a few have been regauged and rebuilt for Queensland's 2' gauge sugar cane lines.
