Savannahlander

The QR line from Cairns up the escarpment to Kuranda and beyond into the Tablelands has been an important transport link since early in the 20th Century. Cyclones and floods often disrupted services and in 1995 a weekly railcar service from Cairns was initiated, providing access and an adventure tour opportunity.
The Savannahlander service again operates all the way to Forsyth using a QR railcar following bridge repairs near Mt Surprise in July 2004.
